CCE hours will be awarded in two categories: Core Competency and Resource Development.
To merit Core Competency designation, the training must be
1) coach-specific
2) relate to at least one of the 8 Core Competencies or the definition of coaching or the ICF Code of Ethics, and
3) help a coach directly in their work with the client.
All other content is considered Resource Development, including personal development, teaching a coaching model, tool or assessment, business building, new science, any other material that falls outside of the ICF Core Competencies.
Some training will be a split of Core and Resource. For example, teaching an assessment tool is resource information. Taking the student through the tool initially is considered personal development. Subsequently showing how the tool helps with goal setting or powerful questioning or establishing trust would merit partial Core designation.
